International recognition
IAPH (International Association of Ports and Harbors) is an international organization with more than 200 member ports and port-related enterprises from over 100 countries.
Each year, the organization presents its Sustainability Awards to projects that advance more sustainable solutions.

Substantial emission cuts since 2018
Port of Oslo was nominated for its pioneering, comprehensive action plan to become the world's first emission-free city port.
The action plan, adopted in 2018, is anchored in the City of Oslo's climate budget and shows how cooperation between the city and the port delivers concrete emission cuts.
The results reflect strong political backing and early investment. To date, more than NOK 200 million has been invested in infrastructure for zero-emission solutions.
Since 2018, the port has reduced emissions by 34 percent. The target is an 85 percent reduction by 2030 and zero emissions by 2050.
Expanding zero-emission infrastructure
In recent years, Port of Oslo has established shore power for nearly all vessel segments, built charging infrastructure for heavy transport, and introduced fee discounts for zero-emission vessels. The port's own operations have been fossil-free since 2018.
Collaboration with shipping companies, logistics operators, public authorities, municipal agencies, and other ports has been decisive. Together, these parties have contributed to vessel retrofits, standardization of solutions, and wider use of zero-emission technology.
Cast your vote for Port of Oslo
Port of Oslo’s project is competing for the award in the climate and energy category against the Port of Bilbao and the Port of Hamburg.
An international expert jury will determine the winner through a combination of public votes and its assessment.
IAPH will announce the result on November 4, when it presents the award at its conference in London. Voting is open until October 2.
