Oslo cruise attracts even Mickey Mouse

A few more cruise ships will be visiting Oslo this season than in 2009, in total 150 calls, while the number of passengers will be approximately the same as for last year's season - about 270 000. This season's first cruise ship arrived April 27th and the last one will depart from Oslo on September 20th. This summer even Mickey Mouse will enjoy a cruise to Oslo when Disney Cruises calls in Port of Oslo on June 14th and 26th and on July 8th and 20th.

Teamlines Rotterdam-Oslo route via Spain

One of Team Lines NOR- Rotterdam routes has been linked to its SPA services connecting Bilbao. The Nor 3 Route now goes from Rotterdam Sunday, and takes a loop via Antwerpen to Bilbao on Wednesday, back to Rotterdam via Antwerp, before heading north to Gothenburg and arrives in Oslo at Sjursøya Container Terminal on Thursday. From Oslo the voyage goes south via Moss and Kristiansand back to Rotterdam.

No strike in Oslo

The negotations between the parties in the municipality of Oslo succeeded, and there will be no strike. The traffic in the port of Oslo goes as normal.

The train accident at Sjursøya

Three persons were killed and three are injured after the fatal train accident at Sjursøya on Wednesday, March 24. The site is being cleared and the area is still closed. The port is open at seaside, but Ormsund Container Terminal are closed. We hope to have the terminal opened monday. We are working on reopening the railway traffic in the port area. Jet fuel normally transported to Oslo Airport gardermoen by train is now transported by tank lorries.

Statistics 2009: Oslo ever more popular as cruise port

Port of Oslo's efforts in marketing Oslo as a cruise port are paying of. The last years we have seen a significant increase in cruise traffic. Port of Oslo's annual statistics 2009 shows a 13 per cent increase in cruise passengers totalling to approximately 270 000, despite the economic downturn. Goods traffic and international ferries' passenger traffic, however, declined last year.

Lithuanian millennium Odyssey

The route around the world of "The Millennium Odyssey"

2009 is the millennial celebration of the first mention of Lithuania's name. "Ambersail" visits Oslo on 9th of June - 10th of June, at Vippetangen quay. 11 crews of sailors on rotation is taking part in the voyage, facing the challenges of the sea and the elements. Around 120 Lithuanian sailors will participate in this route. In nine months, the yacht will visit 26 Lithuanian communities in 20 countries in 5 continents.
