CruiseAll time high for cruise destination OsloPort of Oslo's efforts at marketing Oslo as a cruise port has contributed to a significant rise in cruise traffic the past years. In 2009, the number of passengers increased by 13 per cent compared to 2008, despite the global economic downturn. Cruise traffic to Oslo has increased by eight to ten per cent annually for many years, 2007 being an exception. In 2009 there were 149 cruise arrivals to Oslo. In 2008 the number was 138. Also, average ship size has increased, so that each ship carry more passengers. Around 270 000 cruise tourists visited Oslo in 2009. The largest groups come from Germany, Great Britain and the USA.
